Heart & Vision Awards Concert 2021
The Heart & Vision Awards recognize significant contributions to social justice. In 2021, the awards will be presented to Ekua Asabea Blair and Lawrence Hill who, through their community and literary work, address the roots and contemporary reality of systemic racism in Canada, and offer us all an alternative vision of love and hope. We invite you to celebrate them with us at a special online event on October 18th, 2021 (from 7:00-8:15 pm)! With musical entertainment from Jackie Richardson, Billy Newton Davis, and Julie Michels and a special appearance by Poet Laureate George Elliot Clarke, this is an evening not to be missed! Click here for more information and to reserve a free ticket. Donations to the event will support the hiring of Black youth leaders at United Church camps through the Winston and Merle Roach Camp Leadership Fund, and the work of the Massey Center through the Nancy Peters Massey Centre Fund.
Pass It On! Marathon 2021
In these challenging times, United Church camps need more support than ever. Join the Pass It On! Team in the 2021 Virtual Scotiabank Marathon and help ensure that when a return to normal programming is possible, TUCC’s partner camps – Camp Big Canoe, Camp Scugog, Camp Simpresca, Sparrow Lake Camp, and Ryde Lake Camp – are in fantastic condition, ready to support the continued growth and development of their campers.
The 2021 marathon is a virtual event. You may complete your run or walk any time and anywhere between October 1st and 31st. You can even break your distance up over multiple days. The cost to register is $40 for the 5k, 10k, half, or full marathon. If you raise over $200, we will reimburse your registration fee. Please contact Ali Hayes at 905-771-5124 Ext. 31 or email@example.com to arrange your registration or simply register online. Please note that during registration, you will be asked if you are participating as part of the Scotiabank Charity Challenge. Choose “I’d like to join an existing fundraising team” and search for the “Pass It On! Team.”
